Behind The Lens
Photography has been a journey for me. I've gone from using dad's polaroid camera on our family vacations, to my first Nikon FG film camera - still photographing family and the incredible nature I was surrounded by in the smokey mountains, to a new film camera for trips to Europe, to today's professional digital cameras for my photography business. The one constant is that I've always loved capturing people the most. The subtle expressions, holding space for them to simply relax so their inner nature can come forward. It's a privilege to witness that process and we often cry together viewing the images on the back of the camera.
Sometimes, I need a quick updated photo of myself for marketing such as this one for Thr•iii Collective Magazine, which often turns into a self portrait, which means I have to relax in front of the camera myself, and it's not always easy. And sometimes - things don't always go as planned when my pup Miss Lola is near by, my hair isn't dry yet and the shutter goes off! But I love this work, it's always such a creative process, and a complete honor to hold space for you.
